Artificial intelligence, aliens, and nanotech collide in this cyberpunk adventure...

Michael Flynn has lost time. An operative in the worldwide conspiracy known as the Agents of Aeneas, the last thing he remembers is the struggle to retake Paragon—the derelict alien spacecraft found crashed on the Moon. Yet that was three months ago. Now, as he wakes in a hospital back in the high-tech, urban strife of Northgate, his struggle begins anew.

The Agents of Aeneas have vanished.

His friends are either missing, in danger, or altered. Hired killers shadow his every move. And Jade, the mysterious, cyber-enhanced woman watching over him, will give no answers. Thrust into a blind search for the truth, Michael needs allies. Yet whom can he trust when once loyal friends may have turned against him?

Meanwhile, an intelligence thought trapped within Paragon has escaped to Northgate. Driven to fulfill the goals of the mysterious “Planners,” it, too, seeks allies. When it finds them, it will transform the face of Northgate, the world, and the entire human race.

The year 2051 draws to a close, and nothing will be the same.

A Dragon at the Gate The New Aeneid Cycle Book 3 eBook Michael G Munz

A fitting ending to Michael G. Munz's Aeneid Cycle. In his usual writing style, he leads you by the nose so that you think you know the direction the story is going, only to put you on your head at the last minute. His little nerd tributes sprinkled throughout the story are lovely and wonderful tributes. The various perspectives give you an excellent overall view of the events unfolding, while giving insights into individual character's feelings and thoughts. Overall, this makes what would normally be a very straight and to the point story much more fleshed out exciting. Mr. Munz manages to capture even the most minute, but important detail to allow a powerful image to be formed within the reader's head to visualize the story. Overall I recommend this entire series, and the dynamic cast that goes with it.

A Dragon at the Gate The New Aeneid Cycle Book 3 eBook Michael G Munz Reviews

I absolutely loved this book!! All the action, the intense scenes, the "wtf just happened?!". If you've read the other books you'll love how the characters interact. A few new ones. My favorite in all the books is Felix. However we meet Jade in this one and she's totally badass.
All I can say is this is a must read!
A disclaimer I was a beta and proof reader, and given an advance copy for an honest review.

Michael, Felix, Holes, and others are back as The New Aenid Cycle comes to a close. Munz continues to blend humor and sci-fi in a delightful mix that will keep you on your toes from start to finish. He does an excellent job with believable characters and motivations, and has built a world that FEELS real, which can hard for a sci-fi author to do.

No spoilers here. The conclusion caught me off guard, which is something I love. There are twists and turns, and surprises abound. And the end is perfect. Could there be more story? Sure, but it can also end here without feeling like anything is missing. It's a fitting end to the cycle, and I'm looking forward to his next work.
In a high tech, cyberpunk, somewhat dystopian future, the fate of the world will rest in the hands of a group of people completely ill suited to the job. Which is where the real fun begins.

Clever, fast paced, and full of memorable characters, A Dragon At The Gate doesn't wallow in the darker aspects of the world setting, focusing instead on the vibrant heroes, and villains. That is where the story really shines, with every character being well crafted, capable, and intelligent, despite being faced with a situation they are ill suited to deal with, or responsible for it.

Plot twists come fast, but never out of the blue, as Mr. Munz gracefully guides the narrative towards an intense finale, making this a must read for fans of science fiction, fantasy, and cyberpunk alike. There's never a dull moment as Flynn and his comrades race between Earth and the Moon, and back again.

All around, a well written book, by an upcoming master of the genre.
This last book of the trilogy closes actions very well. I'll avoid spoilers except to say there is sacrifice and death aplenty. Moral choices are made and immoral choices have...consequences.

Old characters are here, some for a while. ) New characters are introduced, again, some for a while. Well done and highly recommended.
For the first 150 pages, the adventure from the first two books in the series continues. There are some surprises, but I saw the novel as a nice, well-done continuation. And for the record, I was worried about recalling the events of the first two, but I shouldn't have been. There are subtle reminders to jog your memory without seeming obtrusive or out of place.

Then, wow, this goes places I could never have imagined. Some of the mysteries and enigmas that drew me into the first two get resolved, but some of them turn into weirder, more exciting ideas. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that it is packed full of page-turning goodness.

One of the things I love most about this series is how the futuristic technology seems so within reach of our current world and how terrifying the consequences of that technology is to certain characters. This book continues that trend and ups the ante even more right from the start.

If you liked the first two books in this series, you must check this one out. It will not disappoint. It has a bit of everything suspense, mystery, sci-fi, and yes, even humor.

Disclaimer I received an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have to confess a couple of things. First, I was given an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Second, I didn't realize it was part of a trilogy when I started reading it.
And that didn't matter. Even without having the background info from the previous two books, I found it engaging. I bonded with the characters and was able to follow the story with no problem.
I have since gone back and bought the first two books. I'm looking forward to reading them and seeing what I missed in Dragon at the Gate.
I did also buy a copy of this book for my kindle. I want to support Mr Munz and hope he writes more books as good as this one.
I recommended this book, but do suggest you start with the first book, A Shadow in the Flames. It does help to read them in order.
Go. Get this book. You won't be disappointed. I wasn't.
The third book in The New Aeneid Cycle did not disappoint! Book two ended on a bit of a cliff hanger, and I was looking forward to seeing how the author navigated book three. I really enjoyed the newest featured character--Jade--muscle for hire with a bit of a conscience. Munz does a very good job of not only writing women but putting them in leadership roles and allowing them to shine on their own (which seems like an odd thing to say, but there are so many books out there that warrant calling this out). Munz is a very talented writer and I appreciated so many points where the description offered was beautifully done. I would recommend reading the books in order. And I seriously want to visit that plant themed nightclub (it sounds odd but trust me, it works).
